Bert Walker is challenging incumbent John Harwood to be mayor of Clearwater.

I am running for the Mayor’s seat because I have the vision, experience, commitment, energy and time to lead Clearwater.

If you elect me I am prepared to focus solely on the District of Clearwater issues.

I am fully retired, physically fit and in good health and prepared to work for you as much as full time if required.

I have served this community and area in many capacities for over 35 years. I am an active debater and am known provincially and regionally as an outspoken advocate of the area.

During my last three years as councilor I have contributed in discussion and debate at council and provided my experience and knowledge as the district matured into a fully functional municipality.

My leadership in establishing the fuel management program and providing employment for approximately 90 workers and $2.4 million in funding is one example of my ability.

I also provided project management in the development of the Rotary Sports Park saving the district taxpayers about $30,000.

If you elect me my priorities would be:

1.  Keep taxes reasonable and run within the taxpayer’s ability to pay

2.  Re-establish lobby with senior governments

3.  Immediately get a structural and financial plan in place to deal with roads in 2013

4.  Community engagement through citizens committees such as cemetery, social, culture and recreation

5.  Develop trails and pathways using grants and local resources to design and build

Please allow me to put my voice and abilities to work for Clearwater
