The three trucks from the Vavenby fire department responded to a single vehicle accident two km north of the Vavenby turnoff on Tuesday, April 17.
A semi had gone off the road and rolled onto its roof. The fire trucks hosed the area with foam as a precaution against a spark hitting the dripping diesel.
The rescue unit came to cut the driver out of his truck. Two police cars directed traffic and an ambulance plus air ambulance also arrived at the scene.
Unfortunately, the driver was killed in the crash.

Miracles from Heaven at church
Movie night took place at Vavenby Christian Church on Friday, Apr. 20. The movie, Miracles From Heaven, a real tear-jerker, is based on a true story about a family whose young daughter was dying of an incurable illness.
Next month’s movie on Friday, May 18 will be Lilies of the Field, starring Sidney Poitier. The show will begin at 7 p.m. with the door opening at 6:30. The movie evenings are free and include the pop, coffee, and snacks.
