My wife and I own and operate Allingham Park Mobile Home Park in Vavenby and operate Pennell Rentals as general contractors, mainly contracting to CME Consulting (project manager for the Yellowhead Mine).  It has also been my pleasure to serve as your TNRD director for Electoral Area ‘A’ Wells Gray Country for the past there years.

As your TNRD director I have worked to bring improved infrastructure to Wells Gray Country and area while maintaining budgets. It takes time, contacts and persistence but my efforts are starting to show results.

Wells Gray Country public buildings have all seen significant improvements with more to come in the very near future. Potable water to Blackpool Community Hall and Firehall, cell service in Vavenby, $140,000 improvement to Vavenby Community Hall and improved fire protection for the highway corridor and adjacent areas are just a few of the many improvements I hope to have implemented in the immediate future.  My plan of putting the community back in the community buildings has been quite successful. Improvements, local leadership, policy changes and a dedicated volunteer base have made this possible.

Campfire bans are no longer tied to conditions in the South Okanagan. Lobbying efforts on my part achieved a change to a science-based approach for ban implementations governed by local conditions.

I have also worked hard to foster excellent working relationships with TNRD staff and board of directors. I receive strong support and a high level of cooperation from both staff and the board. Much of my board support is shown by prominent positions I have been elected to.

With mining in the valley being in the forefront we must prepare for what is to come. If approved and constructed there will be many ways in which the area may prosper but these benefits will have some impacts to valley life. What we must do is be diligent in finding solutions that provide the greatest benefit for the least impact. With smart planning and seeing the ‘big picture’ this is achievable to the benefit of all. I look forward to working on finding the ‘right course’ for us to follow.

As a resident, property owner and business owner in Wells Gray Country I feel I am best situated to continue representing Wells Gray Country and look for your continued support. “Experience Counts!”
