Times annual Christmas story winners announced

A total of 98 local youngsters entered the Times’ Christmas story contest this year. This is up from 83 entries last year

First place in the Times' Christmas Story Contest for the Grade 4 - 7 division went to Tiffany Schwaiger with this story a Christmas adventure. Second place went to Dallas Tucker and third was taken by Isabelle Christiansen.

A total of 98 local youngsters entered the Times’ Christmas story contest this year. This is up from 83 entries last year but down slightly from the 102 who entered in 2009.

Winner of the Kindergarten - Grade 3 division was eight-year-old Eve Labranche. She told the story of Buster, a puppy that got lost but was found and adopted by Santa.

Second place went to Grade 1 student Brendan Green. He also wrote about a puppy that got lost. This time Santa found him and took him back home.

Sequoia Keen took third place in the Kindergarten - Grade 3 division. She told about a lost puppy that was rescued from a dog capturer by a girl. Sequoia is in Grade 2.

Tiffany Schwaiger, a Grade 5 student, took first place in the Grade 4 - 7 division. She told about how all the kids gave money to save Christmas.

Dallas Tucker took second spot with his story about how he spent 20 days riding his bicycle to the North Pole to find his lost puppy. Dallas is in Grade 4.

Number three spot in the Grade 4 - 7 division went to Grade 4 student Isabelle Christiansen. Her story was about a puppy that was taken by robbers. It got away and was taken in by a family that didn’t believe in Christmas.

The first place winners will receive $25 for their efforts. Second place is worth $15 while third place will bring in $10.
