Tickets still available for Clearwater Of the Year Awards

Event celebrates local citizens, employees, businesses and services for contributions to community

The Clearwater B.C. Of the Year Awards event is taking place this weekend where local citizens, employees, businesses and services will be celebrated and awarded for their contributions to the community.

The event will be held at the Clearwater Legion on March 29; doors open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner starts at 6:30 p.m.

Those nominated for Citizen of the Year include Barb Coates, Dave Cooper, Howard Neilson, Kristin MacDonald, Chance Breckinridge, Gail Capostinsky and Sue Ludtke.

For the Youth catagory, those nominated are Ashley Foster, Harris Thomas, Jane Cole and Reid Muddimen.

Nominated for Employee of the Year are Carrissa Fraser, Cathy Noble, Darlene Cowie, Elijah Wicks, Gilbert Fowler, Jocelyn Ripley, Judy Panko, Leanna Barr, Mark Wool Garden, Melanie Savage, Suzanne Tonge, Kelly Ruttan and Kevin Fenwick.

In the Business Service Category are Aspen Service Centre, Candle Creek Veterinary Services, Holly Louwerse Photography, Jager Garbage Inc. and Clearwater Towing Ltd.

Nominations for Tourism-Service Provider include Interior Whitewater Rafting Expeditions, Interior Mountain Adventures, Wells Gray Air, Clearwater Elks Lodge #499 and Wells Gray Inn.

Nominees for the Tourism Restaurants and Food Providers include the Piglet Catering Co., Helmcken Falls Chocolates, Double R Pizza and Subs, Buy-Low Foods and K and A Gatewy Grill.

In the Tourism—Accommodation category are Valley Hideaway Guest House, Jasper Way Inn, The Lake House B and B and Hill Crest B and B.

Business—Rookie nominees include Grizzly Paw B and B, Clearwater Gems and Gifts and Pioneer Market and Meats.

Nominations for Business—Retail include Wells Gray Hardware Ltd, Watersmeet Farm, Mystic Dreams, North Valley Supply ltd-Rona, Clearwater Pharmasave, Dee’s General Store and Greffard’s and Greenscapes.

Winners of the awards were judged by a large selection of the local public.

Tickets for the event are still available for $35 and can be bought at Yellowhead reception in the Dutch Lake Community Centre, Wells Gray Home Hardware, Mystic Dreams, Wells Gray Inn and Pioneer Market and Meats.
