On Sunday, April 3, police seized 10 kg of marijuana bud from a vehicle speeding through Clearwater.
A Central Interior Traffic Services officer stopped the vehicle that was traveling over 90 km/hr in a 60 zone. During the interaction the officer noted signs of marijuana consumption and administered some tests. While arranging for another occupant to drive the officer noted an odor of marijuana.
Several other indicators caused the officer to enter into an investigation under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.
The two males were arrested and a search of the passenger area located three marijuana joints.
In the trunk three large bags were found. Inside the bags was packaged marijuana. The bud was in vacuum-sealed half-pound bags. _
The two males (43 and 25) from Edmonton were released for court on $2,500 bail. They are both facing charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking. In addition the driver received a speeding ticket and a 24-hour driving prohibition.
