Skeletal remains found near Kamloops landfill

Kamloops RCMP are investigating after skeletal remains, believed to be human, were found near the landfill.

Officers were called Feb. 25 around 3:30 p.m. to the Mission Flats area.

“At this time, the investigation into the found skeletal remains is in its very early stages,” said Corp. Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson. “Who the remains belong to and the circumstances surrounding their discovery are part of the ongoing investigation occurring in consultation with the BC Coroners Service.”

Police remain on scene. It is being examined by the Forensic Identification Services Unit and attended by BC Coroners Service.

Anyone with information related to the finding is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP or Crime Stoppers and reference file 2024-5687.
