A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the North Thompson region Wednesday, June 22.
Environment Canada issued the watch at 9:40 a.m., noting that conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain Wednesday afternoon and evening.
“Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year,” states the watch. “Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!”
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce large hail, damaging winds and/or torrential rainfall.
