On Tuesday, April 5, a Clearwater RCMP member patrolling on Highway 5 observed a vehicle travelling north towards Vavenby at a very high rate of speed.

The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, which was a challenge due to the high rate of speed. The officer did not pursue the vehicle.

The vehicle was last seen turning down into Vavenby. The officer began making patrols for the vehicle, which was located with the help of local residents, abandoned in a driveway.

Four persons were located a short time later. None of the four were locals.

Traffic violation tickets were issued and the vehicle was impounded.

Missing children quickly found

Also on April 5, Clearwater RCMP detachment was contacted regarding two missing children.

It was learned the children had been playing in the backyard, which was fenced, but had used toys and other items in the backyard to allow them to climb the fence and wander off exploring.

The boys were noticed missing very quickly. Family and police quickly located the boys, though the younger of the two had fallen and had to be briefly taken to hospital for treatment.

This particular event highlights just how quickly things can happen.

Housing development vandalized

On April 7, Clearwater RCMP detachment was notified of a possible mischief at the Clearview Estates development off of Clearwater Valley Road.

Three modular home units had come off their wooden pilings, colliding into each other and causing significant damage to the units.

It was determined the units were already off the pilings Saturday morning April 2.

If anyone has any information regarding what happened, or when, please contact the Clearwater RCMP at 250-674-2237.
