It is obvious that this 25-year-old Edmonton male driver and his 24-year-old passenger do not read the North Thompson Times newspaper. If they had, they would know better than to run the gauntlet down the Highway 5 corridor while the fresh smell of pot gently wafted from the vehicle.
In this case the driver was traveling well above the posted speed limit and made it partway through the Clearwater Detachment area before meeting one of Clearwater Traffic Services members.
After the vehicle was stopped for speeding, the officer detected a distinct odor coming from the vehicle. The two were arrested for possession and the vehicle was searched. It was soon ascertained that the Edmonton duo did not have a dead skunk hidden in their car, but a bag of B.C. bud.
Police seized the marijuana, issued a ticket issued for speeding, and sent the two on their way after concluding that the driver was not impaired.
