Wellness Workshop Day coming

As noted in the article on page A7, Clearwater Secondary School and the Community Outreach Program have organized a Wellness Workshops Day to be held on Thursday, Feb 2. A variety of workshops will be offered to the community, beginning at 3:15 p.m.

From 5 to 6:30 p.m. they will offer a free light dinner and keynote presentation by Merlyn Horton, executive director of Safe Online Outreach Society (SOLOS). Horton’s presentation will be titled, “Parenting in a Cyber Age.”

Parenting has never been a simple job but with children and youth involved in online technologies at earlier and earlier ages, effectively parenting post-millennial children means keeping up with technology as well as the usual.

The Parenting in a Cyber-Age presentation offers Internet 101, information about cyber-bullying, exposure to online pornography and social media basics. SOLOS presentations provide information about basics and also examples of positive technology use and tips for parenting wired kids.

Dynamic, current and always practical, SOLOS resources accompany each presentation.

Everyone is welcome to attend this free presentation. However pre-registration is required to attend the free afternoon workshops.

Registration forms can be picked up at Clearwater Secondary School or District of Clearwater.
