RCMP Report: Police seize drugs at check-stops

RCMP and CVSE set up several check-stops within the Clearwater RCMP Detachment area.

From April 16 to 22, Clearwater RCMP had 34 calls for police service with the following notable files.

Police seize drugs at check-stops

On April 19 and 20, Clearwater RCMP, Southeast District RCMP Traffic Service, Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement (CVSE) and two RCMP Dog Service units set up several check-stops within the Clearwater RCMP Detachment area.

Many drug seizures were made along with several impaired driving investigations. Many tickets were issued and several vehicles were removed/towed from the roadway due to being unsafe under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Suspicious occurrence

During the early morning/night an unknown person rang a Clearwater resident’s door bell

Looking through the peep-hole the homeowner could see someone wearing a full-face snowmobile type helmet and face mask.

Mischief to signs

April 21 during the early morning/night someone knocked over all the local posted signs from the Hop and Hog restaurant to Archibald Road.

Anyone with information is urged to call the local RCMP.

Semi vs. F550 pickup

Just south of Clearwater coming into town a tractor/trailer unit was attempting to execute a pass when it sideswiped a Ford F550 pickup.

The driver of the tractor/trailer unit was issued a violation ticket for “fail to complete pass.”

Truck goes into ditch

Just north of Avola the driver of a Peterbilt tractor pulling two pups fatigued and left the roadway. The vehicle got sucked into the ditch and the pups broke off, then flipped over.

Police issued the driver a violation ticket for “fail to keep right.”
