RCMP Report: Drive to road conditions

With the current weather and road conditions people are reminded to slow down and keep their distance from the vehicle in front of them

Drive to road conditions

Clearwater RCMP responded to five motor vehicle accidents over the past week. Luckily no one involved was seriously injured. With the current weather and road conditions people are reminded to slow down and keep their distance from the vehicle in front of them.

If you feel that someone’s poor driving is putting yourself and others at risk, please call 911. It is important that you provide the type of vehicle, the license plate and the direction of travel. This will increase the chance of the police officer locating and stopping the vehicle in question.

Lock your car doors

It appears that due to cold weather some people have taken to leaving their vehicle running with the keys in it and the doors unlocked, although this may seem like a good idea, the potential harm is high.

First off the vehicle could be stolen, second it could be stolen and used to commit another crime, and thirdly you could be issued a Violation Ticket for Insecure Vehicle for $109.

Watch for criminals

Unfortunately there have been some local businesses that been broken into recently. As a concerned citizen and member of the community, please be aware of your surroundings.

If something or someone doesn’t seem right, please trust your instincts and take good mental notes. You never know when your information can and will become very useful to a police investigation.
