Power outage downsized

Electrical shutdown Sunday morning to be limited only to the Flats in Clearwater

BC Hydro’s planned outage for Sunday morning, Aug. 28 has been downsized, according to District of Clearwater interim chief administrative officer Leslie Groulx.

“This will alleviate the concerns that our tour operators had regarding the effect the originally planned power outage would have had on our community,” she said.

The outage, which had been expected to cover Clearwater and surrounding area, instead will involve only the Flats.

All of Clearwater Station Road, Clearwater Village Road east of Clearwater Station Road and all roads off of Clearwater Station Road including Webber Road, Swanson Road and adjacent side roads will be without power.

According to BC Hydro, the outage is necessary to improve the reliability of electrical service to 15 customers.

The power shutdown will be from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Sunday, Aug. 28.
