On Monday, March 14, Clearwater RCMP Traffic Services and General Duty officers executed a search warrant on a property off Highway 5 south of Avola.

Once on the property officers located a marijuana grow operation that contained 2,470 marijuana plants at various stages of growth. In addition, over 40 pounds of marijuana bud were seized.

There were three separate buildings used to grow the plants. One building was devoted to the drying and processing of the marijuana bud.

In addition to the marijuana police seized several items as offence related property. These items include a Ford F-350 pick up truck, a Polaris recreation utility vehicle and a large generator. The generator was housed in a five ton, single axle delivery type truck along with a large bulk fuel tank. A second generator was also on site. These two units were used to supply electricity to the 91-1000 watt lights, fans, air conditioning units and pumps used to grow the marijuana.

A 36-year-old male was arrested on the site. He is facing charges of production of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. He was released on $2,500 bail for court in Clearwater in June.
