Police Report: Thefts in area

Pickup truck stolen locally associated with theft in 100 Mile area

Sometime during the early hours of March 12 a pickup truck was stolen from a local hotel.  Later that same day, that truck was associated to a theft in the 100 Mile House area.  A second vehicle in the parking lot was tampered with and items stolen.  Items missing include hockey equipment, a GPS system, DVDs and headset, ICBC registration papers, and a garage door opener.  Both of these incidents involved families from Revelstoke who were in Clearwater for a tournament.

Accident knocks out power to a large area of the North Thompson

On March 14 police were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on the Old North Thompson Highway.  A pickup truck had gone out of control and struck a power pole, knocking out hydro to a large area of the North Thompson Valley.  At this time the crash is still under investigation.

Attempt break and enter

At 5:30 a.m. on March 16, RCMP received a report of an attempt break and enter into a garage.  The local resident happened to be up early and see three people attempting to get into his garage and he was able to scare them off.  They left in a pickup truck.  One of the males was described as heavy set, wearing a plaid jacket, possibly a Clearwater resident.

Another theft from vehicle

Some time between 1 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on March 16, a local resident phoned police to report that his truck had been broken into and some loose change taken.  It appears that this may relate to the attempted break and enter file mentioned just prior to this file.

If you have any information regarding the above files, please contact the Clearwater RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
