Payroll expense for District exceeds one million

The provincial Financial Information Act requires all municipalities to prepare a Statement of Financial Information (SOFI) every year

District of Clearwater released the remuneration and expenses for its elected officials and other employees during last Tuesday’s council meeting.

Mayor John Harwood was paid about $14,000 in remuneration during the year 2010. He also was reimbursed for $1,900 in expenses.

The six councilors each received $7,880 in remuneration. Ken Kjenstad collected the most expense money, at $3,460, closely followed by Stephanie Teare at $3,420 and Candus Graffunder at $3,020. Bert Walker collected $960 in expenses. Brent Buck and Christy Dobi both did not collect anything in expenses.

Chief administrative officer Isabell Hadford brought in the most remuneration of the other employees, at $104.000. Her expenses for 2010 totaled $6,700.

Public works foreman Rob Griffiths was in number two position with remuneration of $92,000 and expenses of $2,300.

Third spot went to Scott Coulson, the director of finance. He took in $85,900 in remuneration and $3,200 in expenses.

Leslie Groulx, corporate administrator and economic development officer, took in $84,700 in remuneration and $7,800 in expenses.

Public works employee Bryan Lipp’s remuneration was $75,400 and he collected no expenses.

The consolidated total of the other employees with remuneration of $75,000 or less was $628,000. Their expenses added up to $15,000.

The total remuneration for all seven elected officials was $61,300. The total for the other employees was $1,070,000. Grand total for both groups was $1,130,000.
