Notice is hereby given to the electors of Areas "A" and "B" of the TNRD that an election is necessary to elect one school trustee

NOTICE OF ELECTION

 

PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY given to the electors of Electoral Areas ‘A’ & ‘B’ of the Thompson-Nicola Regional District that an election by voting is necessary to elect one School Trustee, and that the persons nominated as candidates and for whom votes will be received are:

ADDITIONAL ADVANCE VOTING OPPORTUNITIES will be held for qualified electors on: Wednesday, November 5th from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the following location:

ELECTOR REGISTRATION

Registration of all electors will take place at the time of voting. In order to vote, an elector must be eligible either as a resident Elector or a Non-Resident Elector You will be required to make a declaration that you meet the following requirements:

Resident Electors:

18 years of age or older on general voting day

Canadian citizen

resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately preceding the day of registration

resident of the Trustee Electoral Area for which the election is held, for at least 30 days immediately preceding the day of registration, and

not disqualified by the School Act or the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election or otherwise disqualified by law.

Resident electors must produce two pieces of identification (at least one with a signature). Picture identification is not necessary. The identification must prove both residency and identity.

Non-Resident Electors

In order to vote as a property elector for a Trustee Electoral Area, a person must meet all of the following qualifications at the time of voting:

18 years of age or older on general voting day

a Canadian citizen;

a resident of British Columbia for at least six (6) months immediately before the time of voting;

must be a registered owner of real property in the Trustee Electoral Area for at least thirty (30) days immediately before the time of voting,

not be a resident elector in any Trustee Electoral Area in the same School District; and

not be disqualified from voting by the School Act or the Local Government Act or any other enactment or law or be otherwise disqualified by law.

Non-resident property electors must produce two pieces of identification (at least one with a signature) to prove identity, proof that they are entitled to register in relation to the property, and if applicable, written consent from the other property owners. A person may only register as a property elector in relation to one parcel of real property in School District No. 73 (Kamloops/Thompson).
