North Thompson under advisory due to high temperatures, snowmelt

The BC River Forecast says the levels of the North Thompson, Clearwater and Blue Rivers are all expected to rise.

Rivers in the North Thompson are under a high streamflow advisory.

The BC River Forecast Centre issued the advisory for the North Thompson River, as well as higher elevation tributaries, incluidng the Clearwater and Blue Rivers.

“Hot temperatures over the past several days have triggered significant amount of snowmelt at the higher elevations of the North Thompson,” the advisory reads.

Daytime temperatures in the North Thompson have been in the high 30s and low 40s.

“The public is advised to stay clear fo the fast-flowing rivers and potentially unstable riverbanks during the high-streamflow period,” the advisory reads.

The North Thompson is not under any kind of flood watch at this time.
