Viking Daniel Boudreau and troll Robert Beaudry take part in the 15th annual Wells Gray Birchleg, this year held for the first time at the Candle Creek Trails near Clearwater.

Just over 130 people took part in this year's event, held for the first time at the Candle Creek Trails near Clearwater. The record attendance when the event wa held in Wells Gray Park was 164. Previously staged by the Murtle River Nordics, the Birchleg was organized this year by Wells Gray Outdoor Club.

Participants had their choice of an easy, medium or more difficult course to follow.

An authentic Norwegian luncheon followed the ski event.

The Birchleg commemorates the escape over the mountains by two Vikings with the infant son of their murdered king during a civil war in Norway in the 13th Century.
