Ken Kjenstad is seeking his third term on District of Clearwater council

Editor, The Times:

I am putting my name forward for re-election to serve again on the District of Clearwater council. The past four years has been very rewarding as our community moved forward with outstanding leadership by your mayor and a great team effort by council. District administration and staff have worked hard to get our new municipality going and moving in a positive direction. All have contributed through a dedicated effort to making Clearwater a great place to live.

As everyone grows in his or her positions we will continue to see our district grow in the right direction. There will continue to be challenges ahead as we will be responsible for our roads in 2013. We must continue to work on a safe and adequate water supply and an environmentally sound septage system. As our community grows we must be aware of the amenities that make this a great place to live. Our parks and beach at Dutch Lake have continued to improve as has our recreational facilities at Rotary Park, Sportsplex and ball fields. We should push forward with our needs for good and safe walking areas as well as safe intersections and improved access on our roads.

The festival and events we work on with our citizens are what helps our community enjoy their time and space in Clearwater and draws us closer together as families.

We must be constantly aware of our relationships with our neighbors who make up a large portion of our economic base and are a part of our educational, social and cultural fabric. We have developed excellent relationships with the regional district, our provincial government and MLA, our federal M. P. and our school district. Most important is our rapport with our citizens and our ability to communicate with them and include them in our planning process on social and economic issues. We have amazing youth and we should continue to communicate with and use them in our some of our planning items as we have done in the past. As your council moves forward to address the needs and services of our area we must always be cognizant of our tax structures and our ability to live within budgets.

If elected I would commit to continue serving this community in a positive, honest and enthusiastic manner and to work at gaining the knowledge needed to be an effective councilor.

I would ask for your support to serve another term and be part of the team that moves this community forward in a responsible and positive manner.

In conclusion I would like to thank councilors Brent Buck, Christy Dobi and Candus Graffunder who served on our first ever council and contributed their time and shared their vision for a better community.

A thank-you to all who are seeking office and are willing to commit their time and efforts for the good of all.

To all our citizens ... take the time to address the issues ... get to know the candidates and most of all, PLEASE VOTE.
