It’s election day in Clearwater: Here’s everything you need to know

General election day is Oct. 15, 2022.

The next group of local leaders is expected to be named Saturday night, as general voting in the Clearwater 2022 municipal election takes place on Oct. 15.

The district of Clearwater elects one mayor and six councilors to serve a four year term (2022-2026).

Mayoral candidate nominees for Clearwater are incumbent Merlin Blackwell and Dean Clifford.

Councillor candidate nominees are incumbent Barry Banford, Theresa Braaten, Suzanne Emerson, incumbent Lynne Frizzle, Candus Graffunder, Tom Grimm, Bill Haring, Carly Lepoidvin, incumbent Lyle Mackenzie, Ken Matheson, Harry Minci, Lorelei Rogers, Ron Rotzetter, incumbent Shelley Sim and Jessica Toscano.

Candidates running to be director for Thompson-Nicola Regional District Area A (Wells Gray Country) are incumbent Carol Schaffer and challenger Usoff Tsao.

Those wishing to vote in the Area A TNRD election can do so by heading to the Wells Gray Air Hangar, 5641 Clearwater Valley Road from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., the Dutch Lake Community Centre at 209 Dutch Lake Road in Clearwater all day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., the Blackpool Community Hall located at 155 Ferry Road from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. or at Vavenby Community Hall located at 89 Vavenby Bridge Road from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Trustees in SD73 have been elected by acclamation with Shelly Sim for North Thompson and Rhonda Kershaw for Barriere-Little Fort.

On voting day, Oct. 15, all polling stations are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. unless otherwise indicated. In order to vote, you should bring two pieces of ID, at least one of which has your signature. A full list of approved forms of identification can be found at https://bit.ly/3Ew6FNa.

VOTING DATES AND LOCATIONS

General voting will be open to qualified electors of the district of Clearwater at Dutch Lake Community Centre located at 209 Dutch Lake Road, Clearwater, B.C. from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

A special voting opportunity will be available to qualified electors who are residents or staff of the Evergreen Acres Senior Citizen’s Home Society on Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Evergreen Acres Senior Citizen’s Home Society, 144 Evergreen Place, Clearwater, B.C.

A special voting opportunity will also be available to qualified electors who are patients or staff of the Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital on Saturday, October 15, 2022, 10:30-11:30 a.m. and 6:30-7:30 p.m.., Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital, 640 Park Drive, Clearwater, B.C.
