Iain Drummond Scott has pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder of his common-law wife, Angila Wilson.
He made the plea in B.C. Supreme Court in Vancouver on Thursday.
According to a Vancouver newspaper, he reportedly apologized for his actions and said the world had been a “much better” place with his wife in it.
Scott had stabbed Wilson to death at a house in Clearwater in April, 2014.
The following day he had a standoff with police at another house for several hours before being taken into custody.
He had their three children with him at the time.
The couple had a history of troubles before the wife’s murder.
A date for sentencing will be fixed on July 13. The mandatory sentence for second-degree murder is life in prison. The convicted can have a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 25 years of parole ineligibility.
