Hillside grass fire gets swift response from Clearwater Fire Department

Update:

Clearwater Fire Department Fire Chief Mike Smith said crews were still on the scene of a fire at 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

Smith confirmed there are eight firefighters and three trucks on the scene of the approximately one-hectare landscape fire.

The Clearwater Fire Department is responding to a grass fire on a hillside behind Miller subdivision, just north-east of town.

RCMP Sgt. Grant Simpson noted crews appeared to have the fire under control.

The fire is not impacted traffic along Highway 5.

The Clearwater Times has reached out to the fire department for further information as it becomes available.
