Highway 5 is closed in both directions between Wire Cache Rest Area and Avola East Frontage Rd 3 km south of Avola due to a vehicle incident. An assessment is in progress and the estimated time of re-opening is Jan. 10 at 12 p.m., according to DriveBC.
There’s also a travel advisory in effect between McMurphy Station Rd. and Weather Station Rd for 62 km from Blue River to 19 km Avola due to freezing rain.
