Heat warning in effect for North Thompson

Temperatures expected to hit as high as 35 C

Another heat warning is in effect for the North Thompson.

Environment Canada issued the warning at 11 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 16) morning. Daytime temperatures are to be in the mid-30s with overnight lows in the mid-teens. The heat wave expected to end Friday morning.

“A strong ridge of high pressure will bring a short-lived heat wave to British Columbia,” the statement reads. “High temperatures once again return to the southern Interior with daytime highs near 35 C and overnight lows near 15 C over the North Thompson.”

It is recommended to drink plenty of water before feeling thirsty and stay in a cool place. Seek cool areas such as a shaded area, swimming pool, shower or bath or air conditioned spot like a public building.
