KAMLOOPS – Kamloops North Thompson MLA and Health Minister Terry Lake toured the new clinical services building (CSB) at Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) on Friday, March 4.
Lake was joined by Kamloops-South Thompson MLA Todd Stone and Fraser-Nicola MLA Jackie Tegart, as well as Kamloops Mayor Peter Milobar, chair of the Thompson Regional Hospital District, Interior Health CEO Chris Mazurkewich and representatives of Bird Construction to view progress on the new state-of-the-art health-care facility.
Construction continues on the clinical services building. Exterior finishes are nearly complete and work has turned to the interior, with walls going up and paint and other finishes underway.
At the same time, managers and employees have begun the work of getting ready to welcome patients when the CSB opens this summer. The CSB will enhance access to RIH for those who use the hospital’s outpatient services such as IV therapy, neurodiagnostics, the vascular improvement program, and laboratory.
The CSB will also include an additional 350 parking stalls, as well as a simulation lab and expanded clinical education space for the UBC Faculty of Medicine’s medical programs.
