Harper Creek still on track, says Yellowhead

Mining company says being asked to provide more information for the environmental assessment is not unusual

Yellowhead Mining vice-president Charlene Higgins has responded to the Environmental Assessment Office determination that Yellowhead's application for its proposed Harper Creek mine does not satisfy the information requirements for an environmental assessment.

The request for additional information and clarification was not unexpected,” she said, “as many projects require additional information and fail to get through the screening process on their first submission within 30 days. This clarification and resubmission is a common part of the process.”

Higgins said that Yellowhead Mining Inc. plans to provide additional information to clarify and update its the environmental assessment certificate application as soon as possible.

The Harper Creek Project environmental assessment certificate application is a comprehensive technical document of over 5,000 pages including appendices,” the Yellowhead vice-president said. “We are confident that we will be able to provide the necessary information requested for the comprehensive review.”

Yellowhead remains committed to advancing the Harper Creek Project through to production by completion of an environmental assessment report, permitting, detailed engineering and project financing,” Higgins added.
