Girls say hands up for pink!

The Clearwater Peewee Girls hockey team did it up in style last week as they glammed it up with plenty of PINK. As established by the Canadian Cancer Society, Wear It Pink Day was Jan. 26 and set aside as a day to show support for the fight against breast cancer. This is an important cause and the girls wore their pink with pride! Throughout the week the team continued its Pennies for Pucks fundraiser and wore pink as their sign of support for the cancer campaign.

It is a sobering thought to consider that at least one of these young women will do battle against breast cancer. To see shining faces, with so much life and opportunity and know that breast cancer lurks in the background, it’s sobering. There are more than 31,700 new cases of breast and gynecologic cancers diagnosed in Canada each year. These statistics are too high. The reality is grim but the hope is enormous and the optimism is contagious. Hands up for pink! The time is now.

Let’s join together and get this battle won. For more information on how you can participate in the fight against cancer, visit: www.endcancer.ca

The Peewee Girls hockey team wishes to thank Leslie Groulx for her support and inspiration.
