The emergency room at the Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital will remain closed until Tuesday morning, according to a statement released by Interior Health Monday afternoon at 4:57 p.m., extending a closure that began Sunday morning.
The ER is expected to resume full service at 7 a.m. Tuesday morning (July 12).
The health authority says the diversion is “due to unforeseen limited staffing availability.”
Clearwater and area residents are encouraged to call 911 in the event of an emergency and ambulances will be routed straight to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops during closure hours. Those seeking medical attention can also visit Royal Inland Hospital, or call HealthLink BC at 811 if unsure of their medical care needs.
