Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital ER closed overnight Tuesday

The emergency room will close at 6 p.m. and re-open at 7 a.m. the next morning

The emergency room at the Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital will be closed again overnight Tuesday, according to a statement from Interior Health released at 3:53 p.m.

The ER will be closed from 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 26 to 7 a.m. Wednesday, July 27.

This is the ninth closure since July 1, including a diversion that spanned 49 hours from July 10 to 12 and another from July 16 to 18 spanning 37 hours.

The health authority says the closure is “due to unforeseen limited staffing availability.”

Clearwater and area residents are encouraged to call 911 in the event of an emergency and ambulances will be routed straight to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops during closure hours. Those seeking medical attention can also visit Royal Inland Hospital, or call HealthLink BC at 811 if unsure of their medical care needs.
