The emergency department of the Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital will be closed overnight, according to a statement from Interior Health release Sunday (May 15) afternoon.
The afternoon and overnight closure is due to “unforeseen limited staffing availability.”
The emergency department will be closed from 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, to 7 a.m. Tuesday, May 26.
“Interior Health regrets this temporary change to normal operations,” said the health authority in the release.
Clearwater and area residents are encouraged to call 911 in the event of an emergency and ambulances will be routed straight to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops during closure hours. Those seeking medical attention can also visit Royal Inland Hospital, or call HealthLink BC at 811 if unsure of their medical care needs.
