Clearwater Mayor John Harwood announced last Thursday that the District has hired a new director of finance.
“The District of Clearwater would like to extend a warm welcome to Sheila Thiessen who will fill the role of director of finance,” Harwood said.
Thiessen brings over 18 years of accounting experience, with 10 years working within the regional district and municipal governments and Level 3 Emergency Operations Centre training. She holds the designation of Certified Management Accountant.
The new director of finance enjoys hiking, fishing and exploring Wells Gray Provincial Park extensively. A familiar face to Clearwater, she and her spouse presently reside in Clearwater and she is looking forward to the opportunity to also work within the community.
The former director of finance, Scott Coulson, left in mid-May to become the first chief administrative officer for the Uchucklesaht First Nation government near Port Alberni.
