Wednesday, Dec. 15 at 2:25 p.m.: Traffic on Highway 5 is now moving through a single lane, according to an update from DriveBC. Drivers are reminded to watch out for flaggers and respect those working to clear the rest of the scene.
Emergency crews are asking travellers to use caution when driving on the highway and around the community today as many of the roadways are icy and very slippery.
“The road conditions in our area today are icy/slippery making travel conditions unfavourable,” a post on the Blackpool Fire Rescue FAcebook page reads. “Avoid travelling unless essential and use extreme caution.”
Dec. 15, 1:41 p.m.: A motor vehicle incident between three semi-trailers has blocked Highway 5 just south of Little Fort.
At 12:28 p.m. on Wednesday, DriveBC tweeted there were reports of an incident on the highway blocking travel in both directions. Drivers are warned to expect a long closure as emergency and support crews attend and clean up the scene.
Emergency services on site noted that there are no serious injuries.

Multiple posts to the Hwy 5 Road Conditions page on Facebook note the incident is near Webb Road just south of Little Fort, and a wrecker is on the way to start clearing the road.
Assessment of the scene is in progress and there is no detour available, according to DriveBC.
