Members of the community enjoyed good food and music at the Dutch Lake Community Centre at a fundraiser for the Clearwater and District Food Bank last week.

Organised by the Wells Gray Lively Arts Society and the Foodbank, the bake sale and concert held on Dec.3 saw several performances by The Jaywalkers band, Voices United Community choir, Howard Mitchell & Rick Slack, and Bluesday 5+1.

Foodbank volunteers baked a wide variety of cookies and cakes and most of the baking was successfully sold even before the concert began said, Margot Venema, Foodbank president.

A display of Marc André’s artwork was there for people to purchase with all proceeds donated to the Foodbank.

With over 140 people present, the event had a full house and the organizers are still in the process of tallying up the money raised with donations still coming in.

“It was nice to be able to have the Christmas Concert again, ” said Venema, adding, “We continue to be in awe of the generosity of the community. Thank you so very much for everything so we can continue to care for those in need. You are amazing! We hope to see you again next year.”
