Thompson-Nicola Regional District voters in Area A (Wells Gray Country) casted ballots for the status quo, re-electing Carol Schaffer as director for another term.

Schaffer ended the night with 200 votes against challenger Tim Pennell who walked away with 173.

Schaffer said her reasons to run for re-election included finishing projects she had in motion last term and for the simple enjoyment of the job.

“(I want) to continue on with what I’m doing,” Schaffer said.

“I enjoyed the community meetings, I enjoyed working together with the people and accomplishing things together.”

Some of her priorities going forward include an extension on the Vavenby Fire Department and working with the Ministry of Transportation on fixing roads in the area.

She added she’s already received a call from a constituent about roads in Blackpool and agreed to try and get something done on the issue.
