Willow Macdonald, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District director for Area B (Thompson Headwaters), is one of two candidates running in a by-election to be school trustee in School District 27 (Cariboo-Chilcotin).

As reported in our Jan. 19 issue, Macdonald recently moved from Blue River to the 100 Mile House area.

According to an article in the 100 Mile House Free Press, she is living just outside the municipal boundaries  near Horse Lake. Her daughter attends Forest Grove Elementary School.

She is quoted in the newspaper as saying, “My experience being on the (TNRD) five years has shown me that you need to speak more with the people that we represent – that they don’t feel represented. So, I think my experience gives me a good insight into how that would work.”

She told the Free Press that her role as Area B director is part-time and brings her to the TNRD for meetings twice a week.

As of press-time earlier this week Macdonald had not replied to an email asking her if she intends to resign from her TNRD position if she wins the byelection.

She is being opposed by Cameron Jensen, a retired business owner who has lived in 100 Mile House for thee years.

The by-election to choose the school trustee for District of 100 Mile House will be held March 25.
