B.C. Widlfire Service crews are fighting a fire near the northwest shore of Elbow Lake in the Cariboo region, currently estimated to be 250 hectares on Friday, June 9.
The fire was discovered Thursday, June 8.
Cariboo Fire Centre information officer Talia McKay confirmed along with BCWS personnel, there are contractors, aircraft and heavy equipment on site constructing control lines and suppression on the fire.
Fire C30675 is located adjacent to the northwest shore of Elbow Lake and is currently estimated to be 250 hectares.
“BCWS is anticipating cooler temperatures and possible precipitation that is forecasted for tomorrow which will aid in actioning the fire,” McKay said.
As a result of the fire, the Elbow Lake Recreation Site is closed.
Currently the Elbow Lake Recreation Site is closed.
On Thurday, June 8, a campfire ban went into effect for the entire Cariboo Fire Centre.
