Barriere woman found deceased in burning home

A Barriere senior was found deceased after a structure fire in her home

A senior woman was found deceased in her home this afternoon after a structure fire was noticed by neighbours and the Barriere Volunteer Fire Department called to attend.

The home, situated in the Sunset Heights Mobile Home Park in Barriere, was billowing smoke and flames when the department arrived. The fire was extremely active under the eaves and in the roof of the structure, however, the firefighters quickly managed to knock down the flames with both water and foam.

Barriere RCMP and BC Ambulance also attended the scene.

Unfortunately, the unresponsive homeowner was found inside the structure.

The name of the woman cannot be released at this time pending notification of family members.
