Barriere RCMP is reaching out to the community to collaborate on identifying future policing priorities and goals as well as community policing initiatives.

“I feel it’s important to work closely with the community in developing our strategic priorities,” said Barriere RCMP detachment commander Cpl. Kyle Camalush.

Camalush, who has returned as detachment commander after previously serving three years as a constable in Barriere, has developed an online survey to ask residents a series of questions. The survey will be available online April 1 to 30. The Barriere RCMP will also host a townhall meeting April 26 at 5:30 p.m. at the Barriere Lions Hall where residents can voice their concerns or suggestions in person, or just stop in and meet the local officers.

“The hope is to capture how the entire community is feeling.”

Camalush said the RCMP in Barriere enjoy a close, proactive relationship with the community.

“We need to hold onto that relationship really tight. We have to keep it close to our hearts.”

The survey is intended for residents from the communities of Barriere and Simpcw First Nation.

For any questions, comments or concerns please contact Cpl. Camalush at the Barriere RCMP detachment at 250-672-9918.
