Editor, The Times:

I’m Bill Haring and I’ve been a residing in Clearwater since 2015. I was so happy to establish roots here with my wife Stephanie and my son Leif after 34 years of coming to visit my grandparents in Clearwater.

I am a paramedic with emergency management experience. I have worked as an emergency planning analyst for Alberta Health. Before that I managed fire and flood response with the Canadian Red Cross.

We have seen an increasing number of wildfires threatening our valley and I hope to bring my emergency management focus to council.

Mitigating risks, updating our emergency plans and supporting our fire department and other emergency services are essential to ensuring our community is prepared.

I also hope to continue to build a healthy community, continuing to work with Interior Health on recruitment and retention for healthcare professionals, while advancing seniors programming to ensure seniors can stay healthy longer in our community.

Affordable housing and food security integral to that.

As a lover of the outdoors and I hope to help maintain and promote our world-class recreational opportunities, ensuring our tourism industry is supported for the benefit of all.

Reducing barriers for small business and diversifying our local economy is another focus of mine.

I hope to represent you in council and am grateful for your support and I look forward to hearing your wishes, needs and concerns and bringing them forward to build our community’s future.
