My wife Verna and I are both retired and are proud grandparents. We are involved with our church and we are active members of the Wells Grey Senior’s Society, including my participation in the Writer’s Circle.
Anyone who experiences a life altering injury will tell you that adjusting to the impact of any injury is difficult at best. As bad as what had happened to me was, I soon found others who were even far worse off.
I began attempting to resolve those other person’s concerns. This was not about changing the system; I simply networked with societies or agencies.
Once I had asked a question, if an official attempted to point me in the wrong direction, I checked with my contacts to assess what I had done wrong. Before I was through I represented, chaired or served on the boards of more than six non-profit societies.
When elected my priorities shall include: more child care spaces and expanding Evergreen Acres beyond current plans.
Construction of more housing for young families and also requesting an update on conditions of sewer and water infrastructure.
Now that the Canada Revenue Agency has thrown a body slam on what council members write off on allowable expenses, I will still vote NO to a pay raise for each councilor.
