Editor, The Times:

I’m once again seeking support from area residents for the position of Thompson Nicola Regional District director Area A, Wells Gray Country.

My track record is one of a very active director. I worked with many community groups over the years to determine their needs and provide assistance where possible.

The rebuilding of three rural community halls has brought communities back together with a central meeting place available to all.

I became involved in other organizations to raise the profile of this area and have better access to individuals at higher levels of government and corporations. One example of success from this is the Vavenby Cell Tower.

(I’m) willing to help deal not only with TNRD issues, but other issues with higher levels of government and large corporations such as Telus and BC Hydro.

You’ll once again have regular updates and communication via social media and the local newspaper, not just canned staff reports, but actual interpretations of what’s going on.

I go to the public for input BEFORE a decision to take an issue to a vote is made, this hasn’t always happened in the past; the referendum on the proposed GeoPark is one example.

With your support we can return to getting things done that community members want. It’s time to regain the momentum we lost four years ago. How do you know what residents want? LISTEN!

Like all of you, there are probably things on this list I was not in favor of, but the residents were, that’s what matters! LISTEN to everybody, not just yourself and close friends.

I also feel nothing is impossible.

Difficult, time consuming, and frustrating, yes, but not impossible—if your first approach to an issue doesn’t succeed, then you find another approach and persevere.

On Oct. 20 vote Tim Pennell for TNRD Area A, let’s regain the momentum!
