The Clearwater Secondary School senior boy’s basketball team recently competed in a championship tournament in the Okanagan. While they came in last, the team had experienced big improvements since the beginning of the season, said coach Brandon Mclin.

He added the team hadn’t qualified for the championships in quite some time. To qualify for the Okanagan tournament, they had to place in the top three of their division — they placed third out of seven teams in their division.

Mclin said for most of the boys on the team, it was their first year playing. They were also against some pretty tough competition, and most of their opponents were Grade 11 and 12 students. The CSS team had one player each from Grades 11 and 12, the rest were from Grades 8 to 10.

“That alone was pretty impressive,” Mclin told the Times.
