The annual Bull Of The Woods 2022 Amateur Logger Sports Competition held at the North Thompson Fall Fair in Barriere on Sunday, Sept. 4, proved to be a crowd pleaser, as well as an eye opener for many.

With the event not being held for two years due to COVID shutdowns, everyone was ready to get back to some competitive and friendly action under the watchful eye of event organizer Ben Lefler and his Laughing Loggers crew.

The amateur lumberjacks, both guys and girls, competed in axe throwing, double bucking, stock saw race, bush saw race, chocker race, log rolling, and relay teams.

They provided the spectators with plenty of excitement, laughs, and a few thrills as the crowd cheered on their favourite competitors to win their divisions.

At the end of the day the winners were named:

Shawn Farrow successfully retained his 2019 title as Bull Of The Woods Amateur Logger Sports Champion LumberJack, and Marleen (last name not available) was named the new Bull Of The Woods Amateur Logger Sports Champion LumberJill.

“The event was great,” said Ben Leffler, “Especially that Marleen – she can handle an axe and hot saw with the best of them.”
