The annual Andy Aufschnaiter Memorial Cross Country Ski Race was another huge success on February 13 in Blue River sponsored by Mike Wiegele's Heli Ski Resort.
The kids ranged in age from Kindergarten to Grade 7 and came from schools in Clearwater, Vavenby, Blue River and Valemount.
"The kids are always so proud of their efforts and it's fun for everyone involved each year. We have so many great volunteers that make this possible and it's a really enjoyable day full of fun, laughter, healthy competition and good food thanks to Mike Wiegele's staff," said said Thompson–Nicola Regional District director for Area "B" Lee Onslow.
The annual event is hosted each year in Blue River by Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing. The MW team members were out along the ski trails with other community volunteers to support kids throughout the day. They also hosted a lunch for competitors, families and volunteers following the awards ceremony.
Bruderschaft Friends of Blue River Society, Mike Wiegele Heli Skiing and the Blue River Elementary School all partner each year to host the annual event.
