Clearwater RCMP are searching for a suspect in the break-in of a vehicle of two sisters in their 60s on April 30 at Latremouille Lake off Highway 24 about 16.5 kilometres from Little Fort, B.C.
Sgt. Grant Simpson, detachment commander of the Clearwater RCMP said that the suspect is known to the police and understands the public is concerned and frustrated by this incident. The suspect is described as 6’2” tall with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen driving a white pickup truck missing a tailgate with a woman in the vehicle with him.
Barriere resident Jamie Myram, the daughter of one of the two women, said her mother and aunt were on a day fishing trip to the lake and had locked some valuables in their vehicle.
“My mom and my aunt decided to take a day trip together. They had a truck to carry their boat. My mom has Type 1 diabetes and wears a Dexcom diabetes monitor which alerts her on her cell phone if there is a sudden change in blood sugar levels and because of this had her cell phone with her at the time of the robbery,” Myram said. “While they were fishing this guy broke the window of their vehicle, probably looking for electronics, and found her wallet with identification that also had our address on it.”
Myram said the suspect slashed their truck tires before leaving the scene forcing the women to set out on foot to find help along the road. She noted that this was especially scary due to her mother’s medical condition and neither had food or water with them.
“We are so thankful they were picked up by a Chu Chua resident from Simpcw First Nation that drove them to get help and that my mom and auntie are safe. ”
Myram has been posting about the incident on social media and wants people to be informed and aware of the vehicle and the fact that he has been seen with a woman.
According to security camera footage at Jim’s Market in Little Fort, owner Pam Jim said the suspect used the victim’s stolen card to purchase fuel.
RCMP are asking the public to call 9-1-1 immediately if you have information about this suspect, quoting file number 2024-493.
