The Thompson-Nicola Regional Library is launching a brand new, state-of-the-art Bookmobile on Tuesday, May 29.

Along with the stops previously visited by the Library’s old Bookmobile, eight new stops will be added to the rotation.

“We’re very pleased to be adding new stops to some of the rural areas of the TNRD — Lower Nicola, Quilchena, Thompson River Estates and Lac Le Jeune,” said Mike Brown, branch head of the Mobile Library.

“We’ll also have new stops within the city of Kamloops at Sahali Centre Mall, the BC Wildlife Park, Juniper Ridge and the Tournament Capital Centre; it’s a very exciting time for library service in our region.”

The Mobile Library offers several upgrades that the Bookmobile did not have, including public WiFi, tablets for patron use, and a self-check machine.

Three slide outs provide a large interior footprint for patrons to browse, read and visit and it’s also wheelchair and stroller accessible.

“Once we’re up and running we even plan to offer library programming in the Mobile Library which is a first for us,” said Brown.

Like the Bookmobile before it, the Mobile Library is a full-service library with materials in CD, DVD, magazine, book, and audiobook formats for all ages.
