The weekend of June 8 saw a group of girls, aged from five to 12, tenting in North Thompson Provincial Park.

To find them, I just turned off my car, and listened.

Sure enough, before long, I could hear them.

Uncertain weather did not dampen anyone’s spirits, all Guiders honouring the Motto to “Be Prepared.”

Both tents and tables were under cover to protect them from the elements.

Activities for fun and promoting the learning of new skills appropriate for different ages happened in both the camping and picnicking sites.

Sparks and Brownies even built edible “fires” with round crackers for surrounding stones.

They used stringy yummies within for different sizes of wood.

Keeping with tradition, each day ended with songs around a real campfire.

This happy event marked the end of their year of meetings and activities for Sparks, Brownies, and Guides.

A formal closing saw several girls, having finished their program or reached the right age, advancing from one level to the next one.

Also stepping out of the horseshoe for special recognition were Amery Hokai and Hannah Fedato who were presented with their Lady Baden-Powell awards.
