One person died as a result of an ATV crash in the Williams Lake river valley over the weekend.

Williams Lake RCMP Staff Sgt. Brad McKinnon said the RCMP, BC Emergency Health Services and Central Cariboo Search and Rescue responded to the incident in the early morning hours of Saturday, Feb. 23.

Corp. Madonna Saunderson, North District RCMP media relations, said RCMP received a report at 11:39 p.m. Friday that the driver of the ATV went over a cliff and down a steep embankment.

“Sadly the adult man was deceased at the scene,” Saunderson said.

McKinnon said the BC Coroners Service is leading the investigation and no other details will be released at this time.

“The detachment would like to extend its thanks and appreciation to SAR members who assisted with this file,” McKinnon said.
